Reviewer Analysis

If you’re a Daiwa fan, you may have heard about the Procyon MQ LT spinning reel. One of Daiwa’s newest reels, the Procyon MQ LT is currently the least expensive of Daiwa’s MQ reels.

The MQ stands for the Monocoque Zaion material used in the one piece body design of the reel’s frame. Monocoque Zaion is a type of high-density carbon fiber reinforced polymer material developed by Daiwa a number of years ago. They’ve been developing a number of their higher end reels using this proprietary material and special V frame design and this is their first foray into a sub $200 reel.

The Procyon MQ LT Spinning Reel is available in sizes 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000, and 4000 and is priced around $180. I opted for the 2500 size reel as it features a 7 bearing system, 6.2 gear ratio, 22 lbs max drag, and only weighs 6.9 ounces.

When it comes to casting, the Daiwa Procyon MQ LT Reel is incredibly smooth and supplies plenty of distance. I was able to easily cast 40 yards without any issues. Even in windy conditions it faired pretty well. The retrieve was smooth and level wobble free. Likely due to the high quality of the 6 internal operational bearings.

The one-piece monocoque Zaion V body makes this reel extremely durable without sacrificing weight. It’s corrosion-resistant so I don’t have to worry about inshore fishing in salty conditions.

This reel features Daiwa’s ATD drag system which has provided a smooth and reliable performance with the different types of lures I’ve thrown. When I’m fishing with a spinner, I typically throw longer cast and retrieve type lures like spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swimbaits. The Procyon MQ LT has handled each of these without any problems.

With the 22 max drag, I was able to pull in some big bass without worrying about line breaking or losing control of the fish. The largest I’ve pulled in on this so far was only a 6 pound largemouth, so not the biggest in the world, but the reel did well and I don’t foresee any issues with anything heavier.

I’ve used several spinning reels throughout my fishing career and compared to others on the market, the Daiwa Procyon MQ LT easily holds its own. As a direct comparison, I feel the Procyon MQ LT is very similar to the Tatula LT. The Tatula LT is slightly lighter, but the Procyon MQ LT is a bit less expensive. There are a few differences in the features set, but in actual performance, I’d say they’re too similar to really notice a difference, at least not yet.

Overall, I’m incredibly impressed with the Procyon MQ LT! It’s lightweight yet extremely durable and offers great performance at a price point lower than similarly performing reels from Daiwa. The 7-bearing system coupled with its 6:2 gear ratio makes casting long distances effortless while its ATD drag system provides excellent control when fighting larger species of fish! If you’re looking for a solid spinning reel that won’t let you down on your next fishing trip – look no further than the Daiwa Procyon MQ LT!

Features

Line Exit with a Tighter Angle Using Long Cast ABS Spool

The Daiwa Procyon MQ LT reel features a Long Cast ABS spool, which is designed to increase the angle of the line exit from the reel. This spool is made from a lightweight aluminum alloy and has incorporated air brakes that reduce friction during casting.

The Long Cast ABS spool increases the angle of line exit for better casting performance. The increased angle allows for longer casts, more accurate placement of lures, and less chance of wind knots or snags when fishing with light line. Additionally, this feature helps to reduce backlash by allowing greater control over fast-moving baits when using heavier lines.

The benefits that come with using a Long Cast ABS spool on the Daiwa Procyon MQ LT include improved performance in terms of accuracy and distance while casting as well as increased control when fishing with heavy lines. Additionally, this feature helps to reduce friction during casting which can lead to more efficient use of energy and fewer backlashes due to fast-moving baits and heavier lines.

Lightweight Design for Increased Comfort

When choosing a spinning reel, weight is an important factor to consider. A lightweight reel allows for greater ease of use, as well as improved accuracy and sensitivity when casting. Additionally, a lighter design allows for increased comfort when fishing all day long.

The Procyon MQ LT reel is designed with lightweight construction in mind. Its one-piece Monocoque Zaion V body reduces frame and body flex while still offering rigidity at high drag pressures. Additionally, its tubular Air Bail technology helps reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability. The aluminum spool helps contribute to its light overall weight, making it easy to transport and handle during long fishing days.

Digigear Technology Enhances Smooth Rotation

The Daiwa Procyon MQ LT Reel is equipped with Digigear technology, a unique feature that enhances the smoothness and power of rotation. This advanced technology combines precision-cut gears, which are constructed from high-quality materials and are designed to reduce friction while providing consistent performance over time. The gears are designed to maintain a greater degree of accuracy when casting or retrieving lures. The result is an incredibly smooth spinning experience with maximum efficiency throughout the entire retrieve process.

Digigear technology works by utilizing precision-cut gears that are designed to minimize friction while providing consistent performance over time. The gears provide greater accuracy when casting or retrieving lures, resulting in fewer line tangles and snags during fishing trips. Additionally, this advanced feature helps reduce fatigue in anglers’ hands as it reduces vibration during use.

The main benefit of Daiwa’s Digigear technology is its ability to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of a reel for smoother rotation and enhanced accuracy when casting or retrieving lures. Another advantage is its ability to reduce vibration while spinning, which can help alleviate fatigue in anglers’ hands during long fishing trips. Furthermore, this feature helps maximize efficiency while reducing drag on the line for more successful fishing trips overall

Reduce Frame Flex with Zaion V Monocoque Body

The Procyon MQ LT reel features a one-piece monocoque Zaion V body that helps reduce frame flex to deliver optimal performance. This technology allows for a stronger, more rigid structure as all components are integrated into the single unit. By utilizing this design, the reel is able to remain lightweight while providing superior strength and stability.

Zaion V monocoque body construction reduces frame flex by creating an incredibly strong and rigid structure. It is designed to withstand higher forces than conventional reels and is built with precision craftsmanship for maximum durability and performance. The one-piece design eliminates any potential points of weakness so that the reel can handle larger catches with ease.

Additionally, this feature ensures smooth operation over long periods of time as it minimizes wear on internal components due to its durability and robust construction. This feature helps reduce fatigue that commonly occurs when using heavier reels by reducing overall weight without sacrificing strength or reliability during use.

ATD Technology for Unmatched Fish Hook Setting and Fighting

The Daiwa Procyon MQ LT is designed with ATD technology, which stands for Automatic Tournament Drag. This cutting-edge technology provides smooth and consistent drag performance while setting the hook and fighting with fish. The ATD system consists of a series of precision bearings that are designed to provide instant drag when needed, yet remain smooth and consistent throughout the entire fight.

The Daiwa Procyon MQ LT Reel’s ATD system utilizes 7 ball bearings located between the spool and drag system for a secure connection that ensures smooth operation when pressure is applied during fishing. This design allows for superior control over every aspect of your fishing experience—from bait presentation to setting the hook and reeling in your catch. As you apply pressure when setting or fighting with a fish, each bearing responds instantly without any hesitation or jerking motion from the reel. This means no disruption in line tension throughout your fight, resulting in an effortless battle that can be enjoyed by both novice anglers and experienced pros alike.

ATD technology offers several advantages over traditional reels that don’t feature this type of advanced engineering design. For example, its instant response to line tension allows you to set hooks quicker than ever before which leads to more successful catches overall—especially when dealing with larger gamefish like bass or salmon! Additionally, since it’s able to maintain even line tension throughout battles, it drastically reduces fatigue on both yourself as well as your tackle while allowing you more control during fights so you can successfully land bigger catches! Finally, because it’s designed with corrosion-resistant ball bearings, it ensures long-term performance even after years of use!

Tubular Air Bail for Lightweight Rigidity

The Procyon MQ LT Spinning Reel features a Tubular Air Bail that is designed to reduce weight while still maintaining rigidity. This innovative technology utilizes a tubular frame design that evenly distributes pressure and minimizes body and frame flex. The result is an incredibly lightweight reel with great rigidity that can withstand high drag pressures.

The Tubular Air Bail works by distributing the pressure of the line evenly throughout its tubular frame, reducing flex and vibration when casting or retrieving lures. The tube-like design helps to reduce overall weight while providing superior strength and stability in extreme conditions. Additionally, its even pressure distribution makes casting more consistent and accurate, allowing anglers to make precise casts with minimal effort.
