Piscifun Alloy M Overview:

It wouldn’t be surprising if you’ve never heard of the Piscifun Alloy M baitcaster.

Piscifun reels don’t get the same kind of red carpet and fan fare as Shimano or Abu Garcia products do, but regardless of notoriety, Piscifun’s direct to consumer model is allowing them to design high performing reels at a fraction of their competitor’s price.

The Alloy M baitcaster is a prime example of this.

It’s a 7.4-ounce reel, available in a 6.3:1, 7.5:1, or 8.4:1 gear ratio and with a max drag of 22 pounds. It has a 9-bearing system, a 175/7 mono line capacity, and a 165/20 braided line capacity. The frame, spool, and side plates are all made from ADC12 grade aluminum which offers exceptional corrosion resistance and is even suitable for saltwater use. The reel has a magnetic brake system with 12 magnets for on-the-fly adjustments.

While it may lay some of the pizzazz of a high end reel, it’s not lacking much else.

Cyril's Thoughts on the Alloy M:

Considering the price of the Alloy M Baitcasting Reel, I was honestly expecting something that wasn’t quite as nice as this.

While I would say that there are a few areas where this reel could do a bit better, it definitely is an overall great choice for anglers who want a high-quality baitcaster without paying high-end prices.

It’s a solid reel, durable, and offers impressive drag pressure. If you’re looking for an affordable reel that won’t leave you disappointed, the Alloy M Baitcasting Reel is for you.

Features

The Piscifun Alloy M Baitcasting Reel is one high-quality reel that feels great in your hands. With its affordable price and quality construction, the Alloy M is sure to stand out from the competition. Some of its most notable features include its high powered drag system and durable frame.

Let’s take a deeper look at the features of the Alloy M baitcaster.

Impressive Drag System

The drag system on the Alloy M is uncommonly robust and well worth bragging about considering the price. All things considered, it performs comparably with baitcasters in the $150 range instead of the $90 one.

Designed with 4 large carbon drag washers and 1 oversize Hamai CNC brass gear, the Piscifun Alloy M Baitcasting Reel manages to deliver an impressive 22 lb of drag in a very compact profile.

The Hamai cut brass gear is designed with more teeth than traditional gears which provides a very smooth and powerful drag system.

Brilliantly Balanced

The Alloy M casting reel is impressively well balanced, and weighs in at just 7.4 ounces. This makes it a versatile option for anglers of all kinds, and is especially well suited for those who spend a lot of time on the water.

The reel is plenty light enough to be used by those who don’t want to feel weighed down by a heavy reel, while also nice and sturdy enough to endure the trophy fish you’re trying to hook.

The reel also features an extended carbon handle for extra leverage when fighting big fish.

Magnetic Braking System

The Alloy M features a unique magnetic braking system that allows anglers to make on the fly adjustments to the tension of the reel. This magnetic braking system allows you to adjust the pressure applied to the spool while casting, and therefore avoid the common issue of backlash that tends to occur on baitcasters.

The brake can be adjusted using the dial on the side of the reel. The 12 magnet system allows a range of adjustments to be made to the braking system, designed to let you easily switch between different lures and weights without having to spend a ton of time refining your braking system.

The only downside to the Alloy M’s braking system is the lack of a centrifugal braking system. Centrifugal braking provides an overall better control over the spool when casting.

This is particularly helpful for anglers who are less experienced with baitcasters as it helps further reduce the chance of birds nesting. The lack of this feature is likely due to the price of the reel.

Despite the lack of this extra feature, the braking system on the Alloy M still functions well.

Sturdy Machined Aluminum Frame

The Piscifun Alloy M has a high quality frame that is made from ADC-12 aluminum, meaning that it is both strong and durable. The frame is also designed with a low profile, making it ideal for both entry-level anglers and advanced anglers alike.

The light weight of the Alloy M has a ton of advantages, and one of them is the fact that it is much easier to cast than other comparable baitcasters that tend to be overly heavy.

High Quality Line Management System

A good line management system is one of the most important features of a good baitcaster, and one that should be sought after when shopping around. A good line management system will keep your fishing line from bunching or looping on your spool and help to provide an even cast.

The Alloy M baitcast fishing reel offers an impressive line management system that is quite similar to the one on the more expensive models.

With an easily adjustable tension knob, you can quickly correct any issues that may occur with your line.

Extended Carbon Handle

The extended carbon handle on the Alloy M is a great feature to have. The Alloy M has a large handle that is finished with two high-quality EVA knobs that feel very comfortable in your hand.

The carbon fiber gives the reel a very sturdy and durable feel while also making it a breeze to balance. The high-density EVA knobs offer a high degree of comfort and make the reel feel very similar to one twice the price.

Exceptionally Smooth Performance

Piscifun designed the Alloy M with an especially smooth bearing system. Incorporating 1 roller bearing, 8 double shielded ball bearings, and a NMB high speed bearing internal core, the Alloy M has the perfect components for nice long casts and optimal retrieving performance even when hulling in a big bass fish.

3 Highly Functional Gear Speeds

The Piscifun Alloy M Baitcasting Reel is available in a variety of gear ratios to accommodate the needs of anglers of all fishing styles. The reel is available in 6.3:1, 7.5:1 and 8.4:1 gear ratios, all of which have been designed to offer the optimal speed for each casting technique and lure size.

The 6.3:1 gear ratio is designed for anglers who prefer the more conventional, while the 7.5:1 and 8.4:1 gear ratios are designed for high-speed and long-cast techniques.

The 3 different gear ratios allow you to better adapt to different situations, whether you’re fishing for heavy-hitting bass in the deep or the more elusive in the weeds.

Casey's Experience:

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with the performance of the Piscifun Alloy M Baitcaster. With a sturdy and durable design, it’s clear to me that the Piscifun team has put a lot of time and effort into refining their reel.

With a compact and ultra-low profile design, this baitcaster is sure to be a big hit for any angler on a budget. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the Piscifun Alloy M Baitcaster could easily compete with other baitcasters in the $150 price range.

I’m extremely impressed with the Alloy M and its performance. If you’re in the market for a new baitcaster, I would absolutely recommend you give this reel a chance. It’s definitely well worth the purchase.

Robert's Piscifun Alloy M Review

I’ve been using the Alloy M 7.5:1 for the last 6 months or so and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s lightweight, incredibly well built and very affordable. I’ve purposely put it through its paces, and it’s held up really well.

Surprisingly for the price, it features some of the best components I’ve come across in this price range. It casts exceptionally well, has an excellent drag system and I really like the look and feel of the reel.

While you might get some flack from your buddies for fishing with a Piscifun reel, if you don’t care about that, then I would recommend checking it out.
