The Veritas is a unique rod and in a good way. I’ve been using it as one of my main rods for the last year and the only thing I don’t like about it is the white color. It just gets dirty way to fast, and I’m too lazy to keep it clean. But you can’t win ’em all, right?
Where this rod is really good is the overall feel. I really like the reel seat and the direct blank contact is awesome. It’s much more sensitive than I expected it to be, and it doesn’t feel cheap. I think they changed the reel seat because a lot of the comments on the previous version said that the reel seat was a bit flimsy.
The handle is a split grip, and it’s super comfortable. I’ve had a few folks ask me about how it fishes, and it’s been one of my top rods for a long time.
If you’re in the market for a new spinning rod, I’d suggest checking this one out first. It’s reasonably priced, it’s got great sensitivity and the overall feel is fantastic.

The Veritas reel seat provides a comfortable and secure fit for your reel and allows you to easily and quickly mount or remove your reel from the rod. The reel seat is also constructed with premium aluminum alloy for added durability.
Over the course of the past few months, I have fished a variety of brands of spinning rods and reels to test them out. I’ve been especially impressed with a few of them and the Abu Garcia Veritas Spinning Rod has been one of my favorites.
The Veritas spinning rod uses 30 ton carbon fiber, which gives it a very strong and incredibly sensitive backbone. It’s an absolutely fantastic rod for fishing topwater baits, jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. It has a lot of feel and is ultra sensitive to even the softest of bites.
Another bonus is that it’s a lightweight rod. Most spinning rods are too heavy and bulky for me, but this one has a much more ergonomic design and weighs around 4 ½ ounces. It’s super light and I can fish all day long and not feel like I’ve been wrestling with it for hours.
I’ve discovered this rod to be excellent for finesse fishing and I use it for a variety of different presentations. It’s worked great with small jigs and finesse plastics, and when I need to reach out a bit further, I throw on a spinnerbait or crankbait. I’m able to cast out to exactly where I want to and can easily feel the bites as I retrieve the line.
It’s comfortable, sensitive and affordable. What more could you want? It’s a phenomenal rod!
The Abu Garcia Veritas is available in a few different sizes, ranging from 6’3″ up to 9’6″, making it a versatile choice for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. The shorter rod size is great for fighting larger bass and offers more strength, while the longer rod is perfect for reaching those areas where the bass are hiding or for casting long distances.
As for the 9’6″ size, this will be better for surf fishing as it would be a bit cumbersome for most freshwater applications.
Generally, the 6’6″ to 7’6″ rods will be the sweet sport for bass fishing.
